Epic Gear
Epic gear is the end game for DFO and has some of the strongest sets available (you even get a gleam around the borders when you wear a full set!). However, obtaining these sets and gear is.... Completely ruled by RNG* which makes this a rather infamously frustrating part of the game. Epics do come in a variety of flavors- Sets, Offslots, Savior, Upgraded-- but for the sake of this guide I'm just going to talk about the Basic Betties on how to obtain them.
*- This refers to the term 'Random Number Generator', a system used in a lot of (if not all) MMOS. The TLDR is that items that drop are completely randomized.

The most conventional way to obtain Epics is to Hell Mode. As shown above, there is a little button in the bottom right that you can press to activate the Hell Party which need to be unlocked by doing the Hell Episode Quests given by Grandis Gracia. While these quests are... easy enough, you need to do one for each area you plan to run.
There are 4 areas in DFO that have a Hell Mode which you can farm for Epics, and each one costs a different amount of Demon Invitations per run.
- Time Gate (20 Invites) Epics drop Lv70 - Lv80
- Power Station (24 Invites) Epics drop Lv 80-85
- Castle of the Dead (26 invites) Epics drop Lv 80-85
- Metro Center(28 invites) Epics drop Lv 85-90
There is little reason to aim for the lower level epics, so people will mostly farm Metro Center to get the highest level (85-90) Epic sets. Besides epics, you can also obtain Hell Orbs and Epic Souls from Hell Mode. Both of these give you more Demon Invites that you can use to continue running.
There are two other alternate "Hell Modes" that you have the option to run, in addition to traditional hell mode:
Temporal Rift is a dungeon much like hell mode in that the mobs are relatively simple to kill provided you've got alright gear. It differs in that you cannot get Hell Orbs or Epic Souls, and it costs 30 Demon Invites to enter and consumes 8 FP. The droprate of gear is slightly higher here (~7-10%), so some consider it a good tradeoff. It can be good for a character with a LOT of Demon Invitations and not a lot of epics.
Pandemonium Rift is a dungeon with limited entries that can be entered 3 times a day. Each entry requires 8 FP and 2 Refined Terranium. Pandemonium Rift houses 2 Champion mobs and an End Boss, you can opt out of killing the second Champion mob and go directly to the boss, but killing both Champion mobs increases epic drop rate from the boss at the end! Only the End Boss can drop Epic Fragments and Epics, the Champions have a small chance of dropping Refined Terranium.

What Exactly do you do in hell mode?
Upon entry of the dungeon, you will notice an extra Boss notifier in Pink. This is where the Hell Mode special encounter resides! (Map in the Top Right portion of your screen)

Once you have completed your Hell Mode access quests by turning them into Grandis, you may switch on hell mode in the specific area like in the title images above! Each hell will specify its entry conditions (on the left) and they will display in white if you have the right amount of Demon Invitations. Simply clicking the dungeon after this sends you into the dungeon with Hell Mode activated.

Upon entry of the room marked with a Pink Boss Sigil, normal enemies will be there and this.... Can. Defeating all enemies in the room will allow you to hit the can.
Hitting the can produces several Fallen Guardians! Defeat them quickly or they may put status effects on you!
After the Fallen Guardians are defeated, hitting the can again will summon the Hell Demon! One of 4 different Demons may appear, each with their own special abilities. Defeat the Hell Demon and...
...More Hell Guardians pop out! Specifically in Metro Center, Several Dark or Light Guardians will pop out and just, give you a bad time if you let them use their abilities. Try to kill them fast or hold them for as long as possible!
Upon defeat of these Guardians you will receive your reward! Sometimes a shiney Epic appears, but most of the time you recieve Epic Fragments, Demon Invitations, and on rare occurrences (rarer than epic drop rates), Hell Orbs.
